Prolific singer songwriter Martin Stephenson and his band the Daintees will be performing at Corrie and Sannox village hall later this month with special guest Davey Cowan.
With an extraordinary catalogue of 40 albums, eight of them of original Daintees material, the band will have no shortage of songs for their performance on Friday November 17. Martin and the band are no strangers to Arran but it is a long time since they were last here.
Not limited to a particular genre, Martin, who released the critically acclaimed debut Boat to Bolivia in 1986, has exhibited a variety of styles through the years which range from folk, ragtime, jazz, rockabily, showtunes to punk pop and country.
The bands live performances are described as a must see tour-de-force combining heart-in-your-mouth intimacy with romanticism and spiritual depth.
Over the last three decades Martin and the band have performed thousands of times at events throughout the UK but their shows, described by music aficionado’s, still provide unique moments with an engaging and spontaneous performance.
Martin Stephenson and the Daintees are currently on tour with performances booked throughout October to October next year from Doncaster to Dundee and Leeds to London. After their Arran performance the group will then perform in Brighton, Gateshead and then Leeds, Bristol and London, with many of the events already booking up fast.
This years tour coincides with the release of their newest album, Bayswater Road, which will be included in the tour performances along with a number of favourite Daintees classics. Last years re-recorded release of their debut, Boat to Bolivia, was accompanied with a sold out tour throughout the UK and Ireland and the band plan to do the same with Gladsome in 2018, Salutation in 2020 and Boys Heart in 2022, all of which will be supported by tour performances.
The performance at Corrie and Sannox Village Hall will take place on Friday November 17, with doors opening at 7.30pm and the music starting at 8pm. The event is bring your own bottle and tickets are available at the Brodick Post Office or online at www.arranevents.com
