Staff and pupils presented Mrs Lesley McHale with flowers, cards and best wishes on her retirement after more than 15 years at Whiting Bay Primary school.

Pupil support teacher Mrs McHale, who has been teaching on Arran for more than 40 years – previously as a maths teacher at Arran High School – received the emotional goodbye from the children who were assured that she would return to visit when helping with projects and gardening.

Mrs McHale is looking forward to her retirement but will miss the pupils. She aims to spend time with her grandchildren and working in her garden. She also looks forward to being able to take walks on Arran and do some of the things that she has not had time for previously.

Faculty members, who will also host a quiet get together with Mrs McHale, said she will be sorely missed by pupils and teachers alike.
