The Arran Junior Triathlon Club, who have enjoyed numerous successes throughout the year, rounded off a very successful season with a grand finale at the Prestwick Autumn Aquathon.

A total of 15 triathletes attended the event, including debut appearances from Harvey Dale and Caylyn Millar.  Grace Popplewell achieved second Tristar Girl, Luke Goatley achieved third Tristar Boy and Ruby Wright secured second Tri 1 Girl.

A jubilant coach Craig Wood enthused: ‘Our 15 triathletes came ready to show everyone what Arran Junior Triathlon Club is all about; team spirit, strength and success. A huge congratulations to all our young triathletes who competed, your hard work is paying off as you continue to chase and achieve new personal bests.

‘The club continues to go from strength to strength and aside from the hard work and determination of our young triathletes this is due to the commitment and encouragement of the coaches and parents. The support that the club has received from the community and businesses has been phenomenal and without it the club would not be where it is today. There are so, so many people to thank but we would like to say a special thank you to our sponsors from across the island, VisitArran and the Co-op, Brodick. For each and every person that has supported and continues to support the club we would like to express our sincere thanks.’

Club members, while not attending competitive events during the winter, will not be idle as training continues throughout the off season with indoor cycling on turbo trainers, length after length in the swimming pool and run drills that occur whatever the weather.

Highlights for the club during 2017 have included hosting their own Island-2-Island Triathlon event, which allowed the triathletes to show their skills on home soil. Also competing in the Scottish Junior Triathlon Nationals and bringing home their very first Scottish Junior National, Grace Popplewell.

The club welcomes new members from age seven onwards and details of their training sessions can be found on their website at or by visiting the Facebook page Arran Junior Triathlon Club.
