There is going to be a discussion at tonight’s Arran Community Council meeting about events held on the island.As you may know there are an increasing number of charity and sporting events being held on the island, which are causing some concerns here.I understand that North Ayrshire Council are preparing a ‘draft procedure’ which will required to allow any event to be authorised.

A North Ayrshire Council spokesperson said: ‘We already operate a very robust process for event applications alongside partners such as Police Scotland, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, Scottish Ambulance Service, NHS Ayrshire and Arran, CalMac and the island office. Nevertheless, we always look at ways of improving our processes and are in the early stages of reviewing the event application process.’
