Thursday July 27, Summer Stableford, CSS 65, Par 64. 1 Mark Wren 42pts, 2 Paul Jameson 38pts, 3 QJ Young 37pts. Scratch, Dougie MacFarlane 33pts. Magic twos, Paul Jameson @14th and @16th, Neil Young @2nd, Neil Richardson @5th, Neil Stewart @16th. Neil Richardson won the magic twos accumulator as hole five was selected.

Yellow Medal, CSS 64, R/O, par 61. 1 J Gordon 77-10=67. Scratch, J Gordon 77. Sunday July 30, Hastings Cup final day, CSS 67, R/O, par 64. 1 Ian Anderson 83-9=74. The Hastings Cup was awarded to John O’Sullivan who achieved the best score over two rounds.

Ladies section: Monday July 24, Island mixed fours, 40 played in hot and sunny weather. 1 David and Fiona Henderson 75-11=64, 2 Graham and Frances Oxburgh 88-21=67 BIH, 3 Sam and Sandra Judge 90-23=67, 5th hole, nearest the pin for men, Jimmy Gordon, 16th hole, nearest the pin for ladies, Fiona Henderson, 11th hole, longest drive for men, Douglas Robertson, 18th hole, longest drive for ladies, June Richardson. The late Morag Gardner has bequeathed a new trophy, the Gardner Trophy, for the scratch prize. The winners of the scratch, Stan and Yvonne Brothers, were presented with the beautiful crystal trophy by Morag’s daughters Lorna and Denise.

Wednesday July 26, Stroke round four, CSS 64, 6 played. 1 Sheena Murchie 82-15=67, 2 Jackie Winship 103-30=73. Scratch Sheena 82.

Fixtures: Saturday August 5, Lamlash Open, includes qualifying for the McLean Salver. Sunday August 6, Lamlash Open day two. Sunday August 13, Hamilton Bowl Final, 8.30am, 9.30am and 12.30pm.

Corrie Golf Club

Wednesday July 26, Fairs Cup. 1 R McLean 77-16=61 BIH, 2 J Adams 70-9=61 BIH, 3 A Smith 73-12=61. Scratch R Logan 68. A very closely fought Fairs Cup with Robert McLean just edging it. Four magic twos, but rolled over thanks to A McDonald.

Saturday July 29, Summer Cup. 1 D Hayes 63-5=58 BIH and scratch, 2 R McLean 74-15=68. Great score by David Hayes compiled in monsoon like conditions. Five Magic twos in all with Donald Logan chipping in twice for his brace.

Fixtures: Wednesday August 2, Wednesday Cup, ballot at 5pm. Saturday August 5, James Bunyan Memorial, ballots at 9am and 2pm.

Lochranza Castle Golf Club

Sunday July 30, Club Championship and Captain’s prize. A great entry of 20 competed over a Lochranza course which was in great condition. The club thanked Nigel and Kathy for looking after them so well and captain Archie Cumming for the generous prizes. It was heartening to see a youngster sweep up all the prizes. Club Champion and Captains Prize winner is Ross Traill with W McInally as the runner up.

Whiting Bay Golf Club

Wednesday July 26, The Jim Pirie Quaich. Heavy morning rain greatly reduced the field for this popular competition  and even then the rain came back in time to drench the late finishers. Despite the conditions, club champion Danny Head, carded an impressive gross 65 – 2 over 3s on the back nine – to win by three shots. 1 Danny Head 4, 61 and lowest gross, 2 Kerr Drummond 5, 64, 3 John Dick 14, 66, 4 Ryan Armstrong 8, 68. CSS went to 64 and Danny bagged the only magic two of the day @17th.

Sunday July 30, Nestor’s Jug. Heavy morning showers relented just in time to let the late morning starters enjoy the best of the day although underfoot conditions remained wet throughout. A total of 22 played and the top two came from the early starters who suffered the worst of the weather. 1 John Rankin 9, 38 Stableford points, 2 Markus Kroner 7, 36pts, 3 Stuart McGregor 16, 36pts. CSS stayed at 63, 36pts and magic twos came from Stuart McGregor @4th, Craig Simpson @7th and Craig Dewar @17th.
