A school project collaboration between Arran High School and the Auchrannie Resort has resulted in an attractive addition to the hotel’s gardens while providing the students with an invaluable learning experience.

The project to research, design and build a bench-style seat for a communal area, such as at sheltered housing or care home or hotel, was undertaken by three pupils who took part in an elective class with the technical department.

Trefor Goronwy, Sam Hirschfield and Ryan Wilson met with representatives of the Auchrannie sponsors to discuss the project and came up with ideas for the design and placement of the benches which incorporates two built in flower holders.

The collaboration has resulted in two bench seats which have been situated in the formal manicured garden overlooked by diners in the eighteen69 restaurant.

The two benches created by Arran High School pupils with the planters filled with blooms.
