There was a welcome relief all round on Arran as confirmation came, as expected, that Ardrossan would remain as the mainland ferry port. The decision to continue 182 years of ferry services between Arran and Ardrossan has been welcomed both on the island and in Ardrossan after the failed bid by Associated British Ports to take the ferry to Troon.
