opera02_b37ope01One of the highlights of this year’s McLellan Arts Festival was once again the Opera Gala Concert in the Community Theatre in Lamlash.

Students from the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) performed to a packed house on Friday September 7 2012  with a varied programme from the worlds of opera and musical theatre.

The first half was technical and the second half was more lyrical as these immensely talented young performers served up a musical feast.

The first act was Don Giovanni, Act One, Scene One; Mozart at its best, with the superb singing of Jessica Gillingwater, Pablo Strong, Amandus Kamran and Stefan Berkieta, ably accompanied on the piano by Patricia Garcia.

From Figaro to The Magic Flute and many more, Mi Boheme’s and Mi Chiamano Mini by Jessica Gillingwater was outstanding.
