arran-interschools-sports-02_b27spt03Arran’s seven primary schools enjoyed a fabulous inter-primary schools sports day on Monday, June 25 2012, with some fierce competition from all ages.

The schools embraced the Olympic year by holding the sports day on ‘World Sports Day’, which is one of several build up events where thousands of schools and colleges across the UK are encouraged to celebrate the athletes and cultures of the world through holding sporting events.

In keeping with the Olympic theme and values all the school children were mixed up into seven even teams and competed under the guise of an Olympic country.

Each school made a large flag for the opening parade and each child had the flag of their country on their t-shirt.

The seven competing countries were Bahamas, Chad, Kenya, Latvia, Portugal, Sweden and Western Samoa.
