A group of lifeboat volunteers from Arran were given specialist training on Sunday, December 18 2011 in an RAF search and rescue (SAR) helicopter.

Crew members from the island’s RNLI were invited to spend the afternoon with the RAF Sea King chopper crew after a scheduled visit to Lamlash Bay in late November was cancelled at the last minute.

Kitted out in their life preserver suits, their first exercise involved helping the helicopter to land at Glenkiln in Lamlash.
