A dedicated member of the local Women’s Royal Voluntary Service (WRVS) was presented with a medal last week to commemorate her many years of dedication to the charity.

Elma Stevenson of Sannox was given the medal by Mary Whyte, WRVS service delivery manager for North Ayrshire, Dumfries and the Scottish Borders on August 29.

Mary had come to the island to thank WRVS volunteers who deliver meals on wheels throughout the island every Tuesday and Thursday lunchtime.

Elma not only delivers meals in Corrie but before her retirement to the island was a WRVS Volunteer at Crosshouse Hospital, Kilmarnock.
