Goatfell summit party for 80-year-old Brian

80th birthdayCelebrating a birthday at the summit of Goatfell may not sound particularly extra-ordinary – but how about an 80th birthday!

On 8 September Brian Martin from Lamlash celebrated reaching 80 years of age and decided that he wanted to climb Goatfell as part of his birthday celebrations.

Finlay is king of the hill in downpour Goatfell Race

Goatfell raceFinlay Wild proved he was king of the hill as runners braved heavy rain and treacherous conditions in the annual Goatfell Race on Saturday May17.

A total of 136 entries took part in the gruelling eight-mile hill race and despite the torrential downpour there was good support from the runners at the start in Ormidale Park and on the streets outside, with the biggest cheers for the six local runners took on the challenge.
