Lamlash lights shining at last
Published:  03 January, 2008

The Christmas tree is at last shining bright on the Lamlash seafront after they failed to work for the official switching-on event on December 9.

Traditionally the Lamlash Heather Queen is asked to switch on the lights but this year villagers were disappointed to discover that the lights could not be turned on because a wire had apparently been severed.

Carol Mitchell from Lamlash Improvements said: ‘We want to thank everyone who helped to organise the parade and the festivities and still came along to enjoy the mulled wine and mince pies. We are so glad that the lights are finally on.’

Despite this small set-back the annual Christmas parade still took place and then villagers gathered in the Lamlash Community Centre for mince pies and mulled wine.

Heather Queen, Nicole Crawford was asked to draw the raffle instead.
