North Ayrshire Council (NAC) has strongly denied rumours that the new high school will not be ready for the revised deadline in January.
The school, which was initially due to be completed in October, is still being worked on.
The Arran Banner understands that carpets in the new school were laid before walls were painted and, as a result, the carpets are covered in paint.
Also, vinyl on the walls has supposedly cracked and there are claims that windows are being replaced because the original ones were leaking and caused dampness in the windowsill.
However, a spokesperson for NAC said they had no knowledge of the claims about the building work and added: ‘We have no grounds for thinking that Arran High will not open in January.
The new school should be ready for January 7.
