Congregation applauds minister after arrest
Published: 27 October, 2007
The Rev John Webster was honoured with a round of applause as he entered Kilmory Church last Sunday morning.
The Arran Church of Scotland minister was arrested for demonstrating outside the Faslane submarine base on the upper Clyde last week.
The minister is passionately opposed to the Trident nuclear missile submarine fleet and was one of 170 people arrested at the mass rally, which marked the end of the current yearlong 365 demonstration.
John, who is locum minister for Kilmory and lives at Kings Cross, was one of 600 protesters.
He is a member of the Arran Justice, Peace and Environment Group and a veteran of anti-nuclear demonstrations.
