Dr Graeme Thompson will be taking over from Dr Graham Tinto in the Lamlash and Whiting Bay medical practices on Thursday 1 November.
Dr Thompson hails from Auchtermuchty in Fife and has been assisting in the Arran practice for three-and-a-half years. He qualified at Aberdeen University and completed his GP training in Aviemore after experience in hospital medicine. He told The Banner: ‘I was looking for a mixture of GP and hospital medicine and the Arran practice fits the bill perfectly. I took advantage of the Rural Fellowship Scheme and the position here became available.’
Dr Thompson has moved into a renovated southend farmhouse which he bought last year. Graham Tinto retires from the practice on Wednesday 31 October (see page 6).
