Kildonan and District Sheepdog Association’s 36th annual trial was held at Brandon Farm by kind permission of Mr Charles Fforde.
Fifty dogs competed and the judge was George Watson from Straiton in Ayrshire.
The local class for the Kingsley Cup was won by Wullie Stevenson, Arran Sheepdog Centre with ‘Nell’ on 74 points.
Wullie was also second with ‘Arran Mist’ on 73 points, third was John Craig with ‘Midge’ and 63 points, fourth George Tod ‘Spice’ 60 points, fifth Geoff Brookes ‘Shona’ 49, sixth Willie McConnell ‘Wisp’ 48.
The overall winner for the Kildonan Open Cup was won by Jock Welsh from Dalrymple with ‘Mac’ 94 points, second Craig Davidson, Dunoon ‘Tweed’ 89, third and fourth Stuart Davidson, Dunoon ‘Jim’ and ‘Rob’ both on 88 points but split on outby work, fifth Alec McCuish, Skipness ‘Moss’ 86, outby work, sixth John Casey, Campbeltown ‘Ben’ 86, seventh Brain Strachan, Roybridge ‘Bonnie’ 86, eighth Andrew Ronald, Campbeltown ‘Jan’ 82, ninth Kenny Donald, West Kilbride 79, tenth Iain McConnell, Appin ‘Jaff.’ Maharranee (overall local) Wullie Stevenson ‘Nell.’ Arran Cup (Arran bred) Iain McConnell ‘Jaff.’ Kildonan Hotel Cup (local two dogs) Wullie Stevenson ‘Nell’ and ‘Arran Mist.’ Royal Bank Cup (two dogs mainland) Stuart Davidson ‘Jim’ and ‘Rob’. Anne McConnell presented the prizes and the committee wish to thank all donors of prizes and gifts for the tombola, which raised £160 towards the running of the trial.
