Seven Arran musicians rolled back the years at a sensational party in Whiting Bay Hall last Saturday night.
A crowd of around 200 people had come along to help celebrate Liz Kennedy’s special birthday. The general consensus was that they all had a great time and should do this sort of thing more often.
Folk had come from far and wide and there was a happy atmosphere of reunion and catching up with old times.
Local musician, sailor and hardware consultant Jon Hollingworth had assembled a line-up of some of the cream of Arran musicians and singers with Andy Surridge, Andy McCallum and Ian Barbour on guitars, Nikki Surridge and Simon Thorborn on vocals, Robin Fisher on drums and himself on keyboard.
They blasted out a wide range of popular numbers from the 1970s and 80s into the small hours, and the dance floor was packed.
The crowning final highlight of the evening was an emotional duet of ‘American Pie’ performed with gusto by Alison Hollingworth and Liz.
