Graham takes a 'chance' on Arran Monopoly set
Published:  30 October, 2009

If you've ever dreamt of owning a piece of Arran whether it is Lochranza, Kilmory or even Brodick and Lamlash, now is your chance.

Graham Chappell of Arran Graphics is launching Arran’s very own Monopoly set – becoming the first ever island version of the game to be created.

‘Hopefully Arran Monopoly will encourage kids to leave their computer games behind for a while and it will also be the ultimate souvenir from the island,’ he said.

Graham had to undergo what he described as a ‘Dragon’s Den’ style interview where he was asked to pitch his idea to Hasbro the makers of Monopoly.

‘This will be the only Monopoly to feature private enterprises – all the others are owned by the local authority,’ said Graham. ‘It will be the biggest single product I have ever invested in but I think it is worth it.’

Until its launch in March 2010 the areas that will make it to the coveted ‘Mayfair’ and ‘Park Lane’ sites will be kept under wraps but every village will be represented.

‘All 22 property squares are up for grabs,’ said Graham. ‘These have been re-designated as Arran villages for this edition (as well as one which has been designated as Goatfell).

‘To be fair to all businesses and individuals, we have decided to offer sponsorship of squares in a ‘silent auction’ format, where we will accept bids for any available position on the board anonymously until the game is made available for purchase.’

Successful bidders for each square will get the opportunity to have their logo, business name and website address featured for life.
