Some lucky Arran High pupils were surprised when HM The Queen stopped to speak to them last Friday.
The youngsters were guests at the Royal Highland Show in Edinburgh as a reward for being the top 33 performing pupils in a Promoting Positive Behaviour scheme at the school.
Home Economics teacher Emma Morrison said: ‘The award winners were cooking at the Morrison’s supermarket cookery area when Her Majesty the Queen visited with Princess Anne.
‘The Queen spent time talking with each of the groups who were making cheesecake, pork and apple stir-fry and pancake sandwiches. They had not been told about our special visitor and could not believe their experience.
‘As soon as they left the cookery area they were phoning home, but many of them were not believed. Now the photograph will prove it.’
Among the Arran youngsters meeting the Queen were Drew Ashley, Robbie Bain, Freddie Baumgartner, Ceile Swinton-Boyle, Rachael Mulholland and James Mowatt.
