A woman from Glasgow had to be rescued near the summit of Goatfell by the Arran Mountain Rescue Team (AMRT) on Friday night after she dislocated her knee.
The 45-year-old from Glasgow had fallen between the summit of Goatfell and the Glenshant Hill area and at 4pm AMRT were called.
After the extent of her injuries were assessed, she was stretchered off the mountain to the team Landrover above Brodick Castle drive and handed over to paramedics at the mountain rescue post at 8pm.
Deputy team leader Neil Bulger said: ‘The team argocat again proved its worth, carrying two team members and heavy equipment close to the area, to provide the casualty with much needed first aid as quickly as possible.’
Neil explained that great care is needed to remove a casualty off the hill but it also should be done as quickly as possible.
‘Members of the public should try to give accurate and detailed information about their location,’ added Neil. ‘Mobile phones are very useful but you should make sure they are fully charged before heading out and do not rely on them, as coverage and their working 100 per cent of the time is not always assured.’
