Lisa Duncan and Scott McMurray were named Arran’s young musicians of the year at a special competition at Arran High School last week.
Lisa and Scott will now attend the large mainland competition that encompasses the whole of North Ayrshire.
Those performing in the competition included Lisa Duncan (singing), Thomas McMaster (singing), John Tilbury (xylophone), Mark Sherwood (saxophone), and Scott McMurray (violin).
Patrick McMaster, an S6 pupil at the school said: ‘Five fifth and sixth year pupils competed on Wednesday evening for an instrumental winner and a vocal winner. All five gave fine performances and the adjudicator, Mr Keith Hamilton, who examines for the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, complimented all five on their fine musical performances.’
The North Ayrshire finals of the competition take place on Wednesday February 18 for singers and on February 25 for instrumentalists.
