The Arran Brewery is preparing to launch its first new product since its takeover by Marketing Management Services International limited (MMSI) in June this year.
The limited edition Milestone beer will be quite different to the others produced at the brewery in Brodick because the beer is matured in a sherry cask.
Brewer Mike Lunney explained: We managed to get a sherry cask from the Isle of Arran Distillery and this week 540 gallons of beer will be poured into the cask. This will be left for six to eight weeks to let it mature and infuse with the flavours from the cask.
Mike said that infusing the beer in the cask will not affect the alcoholic strength of the beer but it will have an unusual flavour. He will need to keep sampling the beer until it tastes just right.
With just one cask to fill the brewery will be producing a very limited number of bottles in time for the Christmas season.
It will be quite a special beer because it will come in a bottle with a champagne style cork, said Mike. I hope that it is a success because it is something a little different, and quite special.
The Arran Brewery has been running for eight years and is famous nationwide for its Arran Blonde, Arran Dark, Arran Sunset and Arran Ale.
MMSI, a Scottish based company that specialises in turning around failed businesses, bought the brewery nearly three months ago.
At the time, MMSI managing director Gerald Michaluk said he was keen to start expanding the company to let the brand grow and develop.
