Matthew Evans from Arran captained the Ayrshire Kestrels Squad to success against the Renfrewshire Rhinos in their first fixture of the season last Wednesday night.
The game took place at Cumnock Rugby Club and was the first of four matches to be played in the National Player Pathway Programme.
Matt Evans of Lamlash was handed the honour of captaining the Kestrels side as reward for the commitment and leadership qualities he has shown during the squad sessions leading up to the matches.
Steve Edwards, who coaches the under 15s Ayrshire Kestrels said: ‘The purpose of the matches, and the intensive squad training sessions leading up to them, is to identify the players at this specific age group with the most potential for development by the SRU in the coming years.’
