Eleven-year-old Shannon received the crown from Betty Bremner who was one of the first Heather Queens in the 1950s.

The ceremony took place on Lamlash front green and was preceded by young piper Iain Clarke and herald Euan Bone who read out a proclamation.

Six-year-old Laura MacVicar presented Betty Bremner with a gift in recognition of her duties. Pageboy was Dylan Smith and other presentations were made by Kirk Inglis and Jodie McGarrity.

Last year’s queen, Nicolle Craig was unable to be present so Shannon was accompanied by her maid Cara Miller who will be Heather Queen in 2009.
