Arran beer is back in bars
Published:  11 July, 2008

The Isle of Arran Brewery delivered its first order of bottled beer to the Northend of Arran on Tuesday afternoon.

George Stewart at the Lochranza Hotel is the first publican in the north of the Island to get a delivery of the locally brewed beer in more than six weeks.

He said: ‘Obviously the beer is very popular especially with tourists so I’m very pleased to get the bottles back on the shelf.’

His first delivery was eight crates of bottles of Arran Dark.

Elisabeth Roberts, shop manager at the brewery said that the dark ale is the first to be bottled but they hope to have the full range of beers back into the market place within a week.

The brewery, based at Cladach has been running for eight years and is famous for its Arran Blonde, Arran Dark, Arran Sunset and Arran Ale.

Administrators were called in at the beginning of May after problems with the company’s cash flow caused operational difficulties.

The business was taken over two weeks ago by Marketing Management Services Limited, which has succeeded in getting the brewery producing beer again.
