Plans to demolish hotel and build houses
Published:  04 July, 2008

Plans to demolish the Breadalbane Hotel in Kildonan and build nine houses and nine flats have been submitted by the owner.

The applicant, Derek Callaghan, of Walcal Property Development, Dreghorn, Ayrshire, plans to demolish the existing hotel and build a residential development compromising nine two-bedroom houses, five two-bedroom flats and four one-bedroom flats.

The existing property consists of a large building and a field to the front with an access drive to the right hand side.

The plans show that this access will be moved further right to the edge of the site allowing the developer to make full use of the area.

The existing hotel grounds will be used for the 18-unit development that will be built in a courtyard design, which will have parking for 30 cars in the centre.

The two and three-storey buildings are to be finished in off-white render and will have white PVC windows.

Derek Callaghan has confirmed that the site would be used to build both houses and flats, and that if the plans were accepted he planned to sell some of the buildings but hold on to others for rental purposes.
