Northend just beaten in front of TV cameras
Northend 1 Brodick 2

On Saturday evening Northend Thistle football team were once again the television stars and yet again they were defeated.

Two cameramen from ESPN Asia travelled to Lochranza to film the team reputed to be the worst team in Britain as they played against Brodick.

ESPN is an acronym for Entertainment and Sports Programming Network based in America that broadcasts and produces sports-related programming 24 hours a day.

As the cameras rolled Northend showed a marked improvement, putting up a fight for most of the game but torrential rain made playing conditions really quite deplorable.

An early first-half goal from Jamie Sillars put Brodick 1-0 up much to the delight of the fans watching from their cars.

Driving rain meant the pitch was wet and slippy and both teams struggled to control the ball. In the second half some quick play from Greg McCrae gave Brodick a 2-0 lead.

The boys from the north stepped up their game – Bryan McCallum, Alec McMullen and Matt Milne had a few close shots at goal — but could not scored.

In the 75th minute a penalty taken by their captain Matt Milne finally gave Northend a goal. The game finished 2-1 to Brodick but Northend proved that they are steadily improving.
