Arran’s football season finally started this week just as the SPL football season is coming to an end.

The Arran Haulage Cup competition kicked off on Monday night, two weeks later than usual. With only four teams in the league, Shiskine beat Northend 7-0 in the first semi final.

Shiskine’s goalscorers were Lachlan Jones (2), Willie Sillars (1), James Turnbull (2), Willie Robertson (1) and Jamie Stewart (1).

The second semi final on Tuesday night was a closer affair as Southend ran out 2-0 winners against Brodick at Sandbraes rollercoaster stadium. First-half goals by Danny Head and Euan Ingram sealed Southend’s place in the final.

At the end of the match Stevie Crawford of Shiskine who had refereed the game tossed a coin with Southend captain Jamie Picken to determine the venue for the cup final.

Jamie won the toss so the final will be played between Shiskine and Southend at Sandbraes in Whiting Bay, kick off at 3pm on Saturday May 31.
