Arran lifeboat The Boys Brigade was called out to a yacht in difficulties last Monday.
RNLI operations manager Geoff Norris said: ‘Arran Coastguard alerted us to a yacht becalmed off Pladda. It had no engine power and it was in water too deep to anchor.
‘The yacht, Syrius, was drifting and was taken in tow by the lifeboat and brought back to the fish farm jetty at Kings Cross.
‘Apparently one of the local coastguards worked on the engine and managed to by-pass the filter on the fuel pump. They were able to get the engine going again and the yacht went off under its own steam and moored on a buoy in Lamlash Bay.’
The yacht was safely moored by 8.30pm It was reported to be owned by the Royal Air Force and had five RAF personnel on board.
This was only the second call-out for The Boys Brigade this year. Geoff Norris said: ‘This is the time when people have put their boats back in the water and we can expect more call-outs.’
