Arran’s football season will kick off next Tuesday, two weeks later than usual.
Southend will host Brodick at Sandbraes on Tuesday evening and Shiskine will play Northend on Monday night in the semi finals of the Arran Haulage Cup.
The final will be played on Saturday May 24.
Traditionally the Arran Haulage Cup is played before the league season starts, with the final being played on the second Saturday in May.
Following uncertainties about the availability of two pitches this season it was decided at Monday night’s football association annual general meeting to go ahead with four teams, Southend, Shiskine, Brodick and Northend.
Lamlash will not be entering a team in the league this year. Lamlash recreation park where the club play their home games is going to be reseeded on May 26 and will be unavailable for use until September.
The Brodick team will also be unable to use their pitch at Ormidale Park. Arran rugby club have played their home games on the Ormidale Park and after the rugby season ended last Saturday the park is going to be being drained, scarified and reseeded.
This will put it out of action for a few weeks. The football club will be making alternative arrangements.
