A gorgeous Sunday ensured that hundreds of people turned up for the annual Arran Hospital Supporters League plant sale.
More than 500 eager green-fingered islanders queued round the front and side of Arran High School for the 2pm opening in scorching sunshine.
By the end of the sale more than £2,416 had been raised, a figure slightly up on last year.
Organiser Maurice Deighton said the raffle at the sale did particularly well this year and the school hall was ‘mobbed’.
‘People were turning up with shopping trolleys, trailers and boxes to take home their plants,’ he said.
‘The plant sale greatly benefits from the green fingers of Neil and Anne McLean who surpassed themselves once again with the amount of plants they grew for us.
‘Neil and Anne are now busy taking cuttings for next year.’
Maurice said the plant sale would not be successful without the army of helpers and the committee.
The sale also greatly benefits from the generosity of McLaren’s Nursery at Uplawmoor, Barrhead.
