Twenty-two of Arran’s talented athletes were chosen from the island’s primary schools to attend the North Ayrshire Athletics final in Irvine last Thursday.
The team travelled to the Magnum Leisure Centre on April 3 to compete with other schools from the North Ayrshire area.
Ann Hart, active sports co-ordinator for North Ayrshire Council has been training the youngsters on a Tuesday and Thursday with help from Janet Ramage and Gordon Allsop.
Ann said: ‘Each child competed in two track and two field events.
‘The purpose of the training sessions beforehand is to see which events they are best at.’
The team: Eilidh Blair, Zoe Lennox, Iain Clarke, Jordan Crawford, Moir McCallum and Kerr Rankin from Shiskine; Eilidh Burke, Gemma Burke, Kristina Colwell, Jade Drummond, Hannah McKay, Ailsa McMillan, Sarah McNeil, Isla Sillars, Lyle Bunyan and Roy Soong from Brodick; Lucy Latona, Rory Hunter and Johnny Sloss from Lamlash; Peter Gillson, Alastair Innes and Iain Logan from Pirnmill.
