Ruby Tuesday struts her stuff
Published:  14 March, 2008

Ruby Tuesday was strutting her stuff in front of 6,000 people in Birmingham last Thursday.

Margaret Kay of Whiting Bay had entered her 11-month-old Yorkshire terrier pup for Crufts dog show, the most prestigious event in the dog world.

She said: ‘This was only Ruby’s third time in the show ring and while she did not get a ticket she did herself proud. I have bred Yorkies for 25 years but this was my first time at Crufts; I was just so chuffed to be there. Each ring is the size of half a football field and the feeling of walking one of your own puppies on the green carpet is absolutely phenomenal.’

She said: ‘Ruby is a real dog and I have four other Yorkies, a springer and a Labrador. All the other exhibitors treat their dogs with kid gloves. When they heard that Ruby had been in the sea on Sunday they threw their hands up in horror. We were the talk of the steamie!

‘After the article in the Banner about Ruby going to Crufts I had so many messages of support including cards from South Africa and Spain.

‘With a bit of luck we will be back next year but Ruby will have to qualify again.’
