Police praised a Shiskine man for his heroic actions on Monday morning when he avoided a serious accident in the snowy conditions.
Hamish Hamilton was driving up Lamlash Hill towards Brodick in his timber lorry when a private car on its way down lost control. Mr Hamilton took evasive action to avoid any kind of collision.
Police said: ‘Due to his proper actions the driver averted a potentially serious accident.’
He then parked his lorry and decided to help stricken drivers who had found themselves stuck on the hill.
Strathclyde Police said Lamlash Hill was blocked for 15 minutes and a diversion put in place.
Sergeant Bob MacKay of Arran police said: ‘There were three separate incidents on Lamlash Hill within about 20 minutes on Monday morning and the road was blocked for 15 minutes.
‘An Arran Haulage freezer lorry hit a wall on the hill but we have received no complaints from the householder.’
Police also said a number of items of street furniture such as road signs was also damaged by cars.
