Islanders Faye and Will Fornasier have been saved by a ‘good Samaritan’ after their beloved Dolly, Plums and Custard was vandalised.
The couple put out an SOS in the Banner for a spare part after finding a headlight of the Citroen 2CV kicked in a couple of weeks ago.
The French cars are no longer made and so parts are hard to find. But, luckily, help arrived in the form of Mark Brown, of Dippen Cottage, Kildonan, who was able to give them the parts they needed to get Dolly, Plums and Custard legally back on the road.
Now, thanks to Mark, the car is pristine once more.
Faye said: ‘Will works at Brodick Medical Centre and I work from home. We came to Arran in a very old beautiful car, a Citroen 2CV known as Dolly, Plums and Custard.’
She said: ‘Unfortunately, while we were away in Glasgow our little car was attacked. Someone kicked one of the headlights off and when we got back we found it hanging sadly from its socket.
‘We are very sad about what happened and as you can imagine this kind of old cars’ parts are not very easy to come by.’
Faye said she had heard there might well be some bits and pieces hidden somewhere on the island and hoped someone would come up trumps.
