Moray school decision delights Corrie campaigners
Published:  28 February, 2008

The villagers of Corrie, who are campaigning to save their school from closure, say they have been ‘immensely heartened’ by news from a tiny Highland community.

Donna Gold, chairwoman of Corrie Primary School Parent Council, has been told by a mother of two in the village of Cabrach, Morayshire, that their two-pupil school will now not close, following the intervention of Scottish ministers.

The decision gives hope to Corrie, which has 15 pupils as well as an adjacent nursery.

Corrie Primary is one of several schools being considered for closure this year by North Ayrshire Council because it says rolls are falling. It is considering sending Corrie pupils to Brodick Primary more than five miles away.
