New chairman for farmers society
Published:  28 February, 2008

Neil Henderson of Kilpatrick took over as chairman of Arran Farmers Society at the annual general meeting held in Kinloch Hotel on Tuesday night.

Outgoing chairman Dawn Murchie paid tribute to the support received by the society in successfully moving to a new showground in Brodick for the last two years.

Neil made presentations to Dawn and to Jean Clark who was standing down as show secretary. Jean’s place has been taken by Christine McBride. Susan Murchie of The Creggans was appointed vice chairman of the society.

The show is on the move again because last year’s field is being ploughed. It will take place on Wednesday, August 6 in Sandy’s Field at Cladach, adjacent to the showground of the last two years.

The sub-committee appointed to prepare for the show in another new venue is: Neil Henderson, Susan Murchie, Robert Stewart, Allan Nicol, Howard Driver, Donald Robertson, John McBride, Dawn Murchie and Christine McBride. The next meeting of the sub-committee will be at 2pm on Sunday, March 9 at the showfield.
