Four Arran swimmers joined in the campaign to bring a disabled Albanian girl to Britain for treatment by doing a sponsored swim last Tuesday.
Richard Small, Judy Draycott, Steve Evans and Jackie Burns all took part in a sponsored swim at the Auchrannie Spa in Brodick to help raise money for 17-year-old Valdete.
Judy Draycott said: ‘The ideal thing about a sponsored swim is that anybody can take part. Not everyone can run but most people can swim. It’s great fun and it’s great exercise.’
Each swimmer swam as far as they could in an hour and between them managed an average of 80 lengths.
Sue and Julian Davidson of Whiting Bay started the Valdete Appeal after they met the youngster in an Albanian school.
