School no-parking measures start from Monday
Published:  01 February, 2008

Yellow no-parking lines preventing traffic from parking while pupils are bussed from the new Arran High School will take effect from one minute past midnight on Monday.

North Ayrshire Council has affixed copies of a temporary part-time restriction order on lamp posts near the high school in Lamlash for a period of five months from that date.

No waiting and no loading restrictions will apply between 3.15pm and 4.15pm from Monday to Friday.

The schedule details the lengths of road to which the yellow lines apply. They are: Main Street (A841) 10 metres south west of its junction with Park Terrace (Aldersyde corner), and for a distance of 40m north east; Park Terrace, from its junction with Main Street, for a distance of 206m; Park Terrace, from its junction with Hillside Terrace for 40m eastwards; the school access from its junction with Park Terrace, for a distance of 5m.

The measure is to allow pupils to disembark or embark for a period until the old high school is demolished.

The old school site will become a landscaped car park for school staff and to enable buses safely to turn round to pick up or set down pupils.

The temporary order makes it ‘unlawful for any person, except upon the direction or with the permission of a Constable in uniform, to cause or permit any vehicle to wait at any time on the lengths of road detailed in the schedule’.
