The 2008 One-Act Drama Festival will be held in the new Arran High School building.
After 80 years of drama, Lamlash Community Centre hosted its final festival last year.
Following the presentation of prizes on the final night last February, drama association president Sheila Gilmore said: ‘The festival will go on but we are not sure where it will be.’
Two weeks ago, festival secretary Fiona Crawford said: ‘We are very much looking forward to working with the challenge of the new school and the new facilities. So far we have 12 plays entered including five junior productions.
‘This should give us four nights at three plays a night. Unlike the community centre, there will be no surcharges for soft seats at the front. All the seats are soft!’
On Tuesday, Sheila Gilmore told the Banner: ‘A couple of the entries have just pulled out so we are having to re-jig things.
‘Basically, there are now 11 entries; six senior and five junior plays. This will mean a four-night festival with four plays one night and three each on the other two.
‘It’s still an exciting challenge in the new school and everything will be fine on the night. There would have been issues in Brodick Hall, Whiting Bay Hall or wherever the festival had gone.’
The 2008 Isle of Arran one-act drama festival will be held in the community theatre at Arran High School on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, February 20-23
