Young woman ‘lucky to be alive’ after car crash
Published:  11 January, 2008

A YOUNG woman has admitted she feels ‘lucky to alive’ after a horrific road accident on the Lamlash to Whiting Bay road.

The 23 year old was trapped in her car for more than ten minutes after it left the road and somersaulted onto its roof at Altardoch, south of Lamlash.

She was eventually freed by police and a member of the public.

The car was a write off, but miraculously the woman escaped with only cuts and bruises.

She was taken to Arran War Memorial Hospital and released the same day.

The accident happened at 2.37pm last Thursday, January 3.

Later, the woman told The Banner: ‘It is scary how lucky I’ve been. I feel lucky to be alive. My neck is still quite stiff and my knee suffered a nasty cut, but I am in no doubt it could have been much worse.

‘I’m grateful to those who came to my rescue, and the hospital staff.’
