New role will help festival step up a gear
Published:  11 January, 2008

An Arran festival’s success has resulted in the creation of a new post to help to make it better than ever in 2008.

For the past two years Isle of Arran Wildlife Festival has proved to be an excellent showcase, giving people a chance to see birds of prey, seal colonies, rare butterflies and bumblebees, with the help of wildlife experts and enthusiasts.

This year’s festival runs from May 14-21 and the organisers are looking for a festival co-ordinator to organise publicity and promotion, putting together all the input from volunteers and finalising the festival programme which this year includes new talks and walks as well as the now established boat trips to Holy Isle and minibus safaris and other events. The job is being funded by Scottish Natural Heritage.

VisitArran director Gerard Tattersfield said they were delighted SNH had decided to fund the position.

‘The person who comes into the role will make a huge difference to the festival and allow us all to step up a gear in organising this year’s events,’ he said.

The full festival programme will be on www.arranwildlife.co.uk in February.

The organising committee says it wants to see the post filled as soon as possible and notes of interest should be submitted to zoe.clelland@rspb.org.uk by Wednesday, January 16, with the closing date for receipt of tenders being noon on Thursday, January 24.
