A man who nine months ago helped an Arran outdoor activity business rise from the ashes has resigned as managing director to concentrate on other business interests.
Tom Tracey invested in Arran Adventure Company after it went into liquidation in December 2006, and it was relaunched in March with Tom at the helm, Calum McNicol dealing with the adventures side and Donal Boyle in charge of marketing.
Other businesses also helped and its operations are now run from a log cabin at the Auchrannie
Tom told The Arran Banner: ‘In March of this year Arran Adventure Company was formed to create a business through the provision of high quality outdoor activity services for visitors and the local community.
‘In this primary objective the company has been successful.
‘I took a major stake in this new company and became managing director. My original plan was work at this through two full seasons.
‘However, due to other pressing business interests I have now ended my direct association with the company and resigned as managing director.
‘This has nothing to do with any doubts I have over the viability of the business but rather the need to focus on other things.’
Tom said he would continue to be involved in managing and expanding The Shorehouse and Arran Power and Sail, with power boating activities operating from The Shorehouse and the existing services being expanded to include a diving service and RYA power boating courses.
Calum McNicol at Arran Adventure Company said a new managing director would be appointed shortly.
