Once again, parents and friends of Shiskine Primary School came up trumps at the school’s annual Christmas Fayre last Saturday.
The amount raised for the school, £1,674, was a record and there are hopes that the fund-raising trend will continue to increase, with the amount going up year by year, said a school spokeswoman.
The school was packed with people wanting to take part in the ‘grand raffle’ for hampers of Christmas goodies, which is supported by local businesses.
The main prize was a ‘grand hamper’ with gifts from school staff.
There was also a tombola, children’s crafts, home-baking, a lucky dip, toys and other attractions.
All the villagers contribute food, drink and other gifts.
The fayre is the only fund-raising event held for the school, which has 48 pupils and 11 nursery children.
Other fund-raisers throughout the year by the school are for other causes.
