Christmas lights delight
Published:  07 December, 2007

It was a big occasion once again when the Christmas lights were switched on in Brodick at the weekend.

Following the annual children’s party, which went with a real swing, it was the turn of little Kyle McNicol of Brodick to do the honours.

Kyle’s named was picked after the annual raffle to choose which youngster will perform the switching on ceremony.

But it was not just four-year-old Kyle who was thrilled to be able to carry out the honour — Brodick Improvements Association was also delighted to see the lights on after last year’s were vandalised.

With contributions from local businesses, including The Banner and the Co-op, money has been forthcoming this year for new lights and they now make a proud sight along Brodick seafront.

Partygoers young and old packed the hall to capacity to enjoy all kinds of entertainment including Christmas music from Arran Brass Band, together with some delicious food, face painting for children and a raffle for all sorts of Christmas goodies.
