Despite the extremely wet and windy conditions Arran RFC still managed to come out on top as they defeated Jordanhill Phoenix 42-0 in Glasgow at the weekend.

Jordanhill are currently at the bottom of the West Division 3 league table after scoring only seven points since the start of the season.

Captain Murray Picken said: ‘Despite the score line it wasn’t an easy game. It was really wet and very windy so it was a tough game.’

At half time the score was 24-0 and Arran knew they were onto a winner.

Tries from Murray Picken, Martin Ross, Mark Wetton and three from Lachlan Jones produced an impressive win for Arran.

This Saturday’s game against Glasgow University due to be played the Ormidale Park has been cancelled.

The following weekend (Saturday 8) the senior team is away to Bishopton in a game sponsored by Nicol Auld.

On Sunday December 16 the S1/2 team have a game away to Garnock.
