Arran’s senior rugby team were back on form last weekend as they played Kilmarnock thirds in a friendly at the Ormidale Park in Brodick.
After a few weeks of defeats you couldn’t have blamed Arran for being disheartened but not this team.
Arran stormed into the game within the first five minutes to put the first points of the game onto the board.
Despite the wet and incredibly windy conditions Arran’s playing was superb.
Arran’s hard-working forward line kept the ball in their possession for most of the game.
Two tries from Ben Tattersfield and Murray Picken took Arran well into the lead.
Lachlan Jones’ kicks to goal were almost 50 percent on target, which considering the strength and direction of the wind was very impressive.
The ball was slippery though and a few dropped passes close to the try line meant the score was perhaps considerably less than it could have been.
Kilmarnock played well though and managed to cross the try line twice.
The final score was 29-10 to Arran.
Captain Murray Picken said: ‘It was a good game today and we all played well together. I think we are steadily improving all the time.’
