Two large Harris hawks paid a visit to the Shiskine Scout group on Thursday November 8.
The male and female birds were accompanied by Murray Boal who gave a talk on keeping the birds, looking after them, training and feeding captive birds.
The talk and demonstration were part of the work towards the Scouts Naturalist Badge.
The Scouts have to complete a series of tasks, which include being able to identify at least six different species of wild birds.
They must also be able to identify different types of insects and wild flowers, grasses and ferns.
Murray Boal described to the boys all aspects of wild birds of prey including their habitat, feeding habits and life cycle.
The Scouts were then treated to a flying demonstration of the male hawk inside the village hall and were shown how the birds hunt to feed.
