MP meets PM over Farepak
Published:  24 November, 2007

Arran’s MP Katy Clark, will be meeting the Prime Minister this week to discuss the collapse of the company Farepak and the lack of support for the victims.

Katy Clark MP said: ‘The victims from the collapse of Farepak have not received any compensation yet. The administrators for Farepak have had over a year to organise payouts however the victims will now face another Christmas of borrowing and more debt.’

On the December 13 2006, Katy presented the Government with a petition signed by over 1,600 Ayrshire residents. The petition called on the Government to do everything they can to make sure that those throughout the country who through no fault of their own have been adversely affected by the Farepak collapse are given compensation.

The MP lodged a Parliamentary motion last week calling for the Government to intervene.

Katy added: ‘Most of the victims of the Farepak event have not been paid any compensation from the Farepak administrators. The Government and the administrators must act now to ensure they get their money back. Farepak allowed hundreds of local people to continue to pay into their Christmas savings scheme last year even though Farepak knew they were in financial difficulties. It is time that the Farepak savers got justice.’
